Math grades

You will notice as you look at your child' progress on Infinite Campus that there are six categories under math;these are the state standards. Since we use standardized grading for math, your child's score is based on a scale of  1-4. Here is an explanation of each score.

1=The concept has been introduced, but the student has not yet demonstrate knowledge of grade level concepts. (just beginning and needs lots of practice)

2= The child demonstrates partial knowledge of grade level concetps.(practicing but needs help)

3= The student demonstrates solid knowledge of grade level concepts with accuracy and quality
(exactly where we want her/him to be at the end of the unit of study)

4= The student deomonstrates a thorough, in-depth knowledge of extended concepts and skills
.(wow! above and beyond what's expected)

Please note: It is quite common to have a score of 1 or 2 at this point in the year., especially if the concept is new to your child. This doesn't mean your child is "failing", it means she/he needs practice. That, we can do!

Also, you may notice that your child doesn't have a grade in all six standards. This is because they haven't all been introduced yet. As time progresses, you will see grades in all areas.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have regarding math grading.

re not expected to receive 3's at this point in the year, especially if the concept is new.
